Hey, I'm Steve. I was born, raised and currently live in Upstate New York. I write songs sometimes. I released my debut full length "Hope Is All We Have" on Barn Burner Records in 2013. I'm well into the writing process for a follow up LP entitled "Selfish or Selfless". I have no plans for extensive touring in the immediate future, but I will be playing shows in my general area from time to time.
If you do follow me, you can hear demos of new material I'm working on, get information on shows I'm playing, get a glimpse of other aspects of my life and see what all of my friends in (more successful and relevant) bands are up to. You can get in touch directly through my ask box or via email at
stevediwhy (at) gmail (dot) com and thanks a lot for taking a second to check out what I'm doing.
Physical copies of my full length can be purchased at http://barnburnerrecords.limitedrun.com/ and the entire record can be streamed and downloaded for free directly below. Thanks.
1) On Friday, October 12th, I’ll be performing on WONY 90.9FM on the "Live and Local" show, run by my friends Gina and Emily. I’ll be playing things and probably talking about things, so tune in if you want, either on an actual radio or at http://wonyfm.com
2) On Saturday, October 13th, I’ll be performing in Newark, Delaware. I’ll be playing alongside my best friends Broken Field Runner (Tony of Caleb Lionheart) and Paul Blest (Caseracer); as well as with Adult Braces (ex Spraynard), Starving Arts (Christian Beale of Punishment Due), Caulfield Rebellion and Bummers. It’ll be an awesome house show for anyone in Delaware, New Jersey or Philadelphia to come out for. There’s a facebook event too! http://www.facebook.com/events/356376674438242/?fref=ts
3) This week marks the beginning of something special. Myself, Simone (Ugly Throat), Nick Connor (Dirtpope) and Amado (ex This Is Patrick) will be rehearsing full band versions of my songs as well as Ugly Throat material. Will we play any shows? Will we do any tours? It’s too soon to tell, but I think both of those things are a possibility.
4) I could post a new song tonight, but only if you wanted me to. Let me know if you want me to. If you haven’t listened yet, check out the new song I posted last week: http://stevelayman.tumblr.com/post/32340285109/heres-a-new-one-for-you-211-if-you-enjoy-the
On Saturday, September 22nd I will be playing a friend’s in house art gala. More details will be released when I get them, but come through for some home made visual art and live music.
Also, On October 12th, I will be performing on WONY’s “Live & Local”, the radio show of my good friend Gina! Be sure to tune in that Friday from 6-8PM to listen to some songs and probably an “interview” (aka, Gina and I talking): http://wonyfm.com/
Don’t forget, October 13th I’m playing Delaware with Adult Braces (ex Spraynard), Broken Field Runner (Tony of Caleb Lionheart), Paul Blest (of Caseracer), Starving Arts and more. Here’s the info on that: http://www.facebook.com/events/356376674438242/
I’m working on some new stuff. I’ll have demos up in the coming weeks.
This is the side project of Pat Graham of Spraynard called Adult Braces. Solid acoustic jams that sound an awful lot like the Bug Sessions of Saves The Day without the applause in between tracks. I’m playing a show with Adult Braces, Paul Blest (of Caseracer fame) Broken Field Runner (the moniker for Tony of Caleb Lionheart) and Bummers on October 13th at a house in Newark, Delaware.
This song rules. I can’t wait for this show! Listen to this and then buy his demo!
Played one of my better sets to more people than I think I have ever played to before. I also got to see Caleb Lionheart play a full band set for the first time in forever. What was really fucking cool was when Pat The Bunny told everyone in the crowd how stoked he was to hear my song "Unfit Dullard" (the one about not using words to perpetuate social systems of oppression that got tons of negative anonymous feedback on this page) and how happy it made him that he wasn’t the only one at a show willing to say something about it. The approval of someone like him is nothing short of amazing.
Amazing friends, amazing music, amazing burritos. Albany treats me good every time. Thanks so fucking much. Seriously.
7/2 - The Social Justice Center (Albany, NY) w/ Ramshackle Glory, Caleb Lionheart, Long Legs + 7pm/5$/All Ages

***I am open to playing just about anything within four hours of me on weekends, get in touch through email (firstname.lastname@example.org), my askbox or Facebook. ***
****I have free time from school to do some touring from January 2nd-15th, February 15th-24th and March 22nd-April 1st. If you’d like me to hop in the van with your band, email me at email@example.com****
Hey! You might notice if you look at my page that there is a new tab called DEMOS that you can click. This is a database of demo recordings of my most recent material, going back into stuff I recorded in March up to the most recent recordings I’ve posted these past few weeks. So instead of making people dig through all my posts, I put it all in one place. You’re welcome!
Don’t forget, I’m playing with Ramshackle Glory, Caleb Lionheart and Long Legs on July 2nd @ The Albany Social Justice Center! One of my only shows this summer so be sure to come through!
